Shobu Aikido of the Berkshires was founded in 1997 by Sensei Satoru Sato, in Great Barrington, MA. The dojo is a spacious 1,500 Sq ft. Japanese Zen style environment. It is equipped with safe soft tatami mats flooring for practice, and has a comfortable gathering area for viewing the practice.
Facilities include changing rooms, bathroom and shower room. Safe and convenient parking available.
Sato Sensei 6th Dan, studied Aikido with William Gleason Sensei from 1984 to 1996 at Shobu Aikido of Boston. In 1993, Sato Sensei returned to Japan for six months to study with Takeda Sensei at Shonan Aikido Kenkyu Kai. After he came back to US, he continued studying with William Gleason Sensei and Mitsugi Saotome Sensei.
Angel Espinoza 2nd Dan, is the most senior student at the dojo, and has been practicing for more than ten years under Sato Sensei.
Aikido is a martial art which was created by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1967). Aikido training purifies the body, mind and spirit harmoniously.
