Observe a Class

If you’d like to observe a class, there’s comfortable seating in the dojo. Take a look at the weekly schedule to plan your visit, then check the calendar for last minute changes. Come 5 to 10 minutes early so you can remove your shoes before entering the practice space and get settled before class starts.

Attend a Class

Having no experience allows us to have beginner’s mind: everything is fresh and we are without preconceptions. It is traditional in Aikido that beginners join experienced students in practice. The energy of the opponents is blended and harmonized in Aikido. Practicing with an experienced partner helps build this experience better than when two inexperienced partners practice together.

What to Wear

For your first class, wear comfortble clothing that does not restrict your movement. It is best to wear clothing that covers the elbows and knees. We practice on the mat barefoot. The customary practice uniform is called a Gi and consists of a jacket, pants and belt.
